Colonel Caine was one of the guests invited to Mr R's house to witness an attempt to contact another plane.

Caine, along with the other guests, were made immobile when an evil entity possessed Abigail. They were freed when the First Doctor and Edgar Allan Poe destroyed the skull. (PROSE: The True and Indisputable Facts in the Matter of the Ram's Skull)
