Jonathan Powell was Controller of BBC One from 1987 to 1992. As Head of Drama and later Controller of BBC One, he was involved in the firing of Colin Baker. He also effectively cancelled the Doctor Who by not re-commissioning the show in 1990, 1991 or 1992.
