A fusion scoop was a means of accessing power by harvesting the hydrogen from a star's surface. By the 42nd century fusions scoops were illegal. A cargo vessel the S.S. Pentallian used a fusion scoop as a means of acquiring "cheap fuel", most of its crew were killed after they used their scoops on Torajii a sentient star in the Torajii system. (DW: 42)
