Does anyone else feel sympathy for the master?

After watching the master from the revived series and the classic series, there are two different sides to see. The classic series master was pure evil and wanting the doctor dead, likely as a result of being slightly mad, wanting power and probably because of something that happened between the two.

Whereas the master played by john simm can still be ruthless, he has more of a softer side at times. You can tell it in his eyes when he is talking about having a life without the drumming and thinking back to his childhood friendship with the doctor. The ultimate outcome of this side is shown in the end of time when the master sacrifices himself to both get revenge on rassilon and to save the doctor. --Coop3 23:32, July 1, 2013 (UTC)

I agree. Although I hated the Master so much for hurting the Doctor, I felt sorry for him too. It was nice that in the end, he redeemed himself.

Roger Delgado is my favorite. He just performs the role so well. His appearance also perfectly matches what my mind thinks of 'The Master'.
