Trinity Wells, possibly known as Mal Loup, was an American newsreader. She reported several alien encounters for an American news network which went by the acronym "AMNN". She was born in July or August. The reporter covered::

Donna's World

Naming controversy

If this chyron is to be trusted, this reporter's name is "Mal Loup".

This reporter's name is the subject of some ambiguity. Her name has only been seen in a chyron once. In one account of the Slitheen infiltration of the British government, her name was seen as "Mal Loup", a vague French translation for "Bad Wolf".

This in-universe citation, however, was only seen on an official, but in-universe, BBC website, not in the episode as broadcast. Likewise, the name "Trinity Wells" comes only from the credits of Turn Left and The Stolen Earth, not the episode themselves. Is "Mal Loup" the Bad Wolf entity's manipulation of her chyron? Is "Trinity Wells" only the character's name in Donna's World? Why was she credited as "reporter" or "newsreader" for all previous appearances, only to be given a name beginning with Turn Left's cast list? These are questions that have not been answered definitively by the narrative.

Behind the scenes

Along with Sarah Jane and Luke, this character is one of only three fictional humans to appear both in Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures. Another newsreader has also appeared in both programs, but he is a real-life BBC Wales newsreader, Jason Mohammad, playing himself.
