On 24 December, the following important behind-the-scenes events were known to have occurred:
- 2008 - A little-known actor named Matt Smith attended a secret photo shoot. It was so secret, in fact, that the hairstylist and photographer were not informed what it was for. Later, an image of the the Doctor's TARDIS was digitally added to the photos, which were issued on 3 January 2009 to announce Smith as the eleventh actor to play the Doctor.
