Supposedly warriors who could when angry enter a berserk rage either naturally or with the aid of drugs. They were reputed to wear animal skins as armour. As revealed in The Mark of the Berserker at least one form of Berserker came about through the use of alien technology.

A talisman that gave the bearer the ability to order people to do as they wished also changed the person using slowly into a Berserker. At every use the talisman would slightly change the bearer both physically and mentally until the bearer desired to complete the transformation to a Berserker. The only cure if done early enough is to remind the person affected who they are so that the memories will assert their human identity.

Appearance

During transformation the skin of the user develops prominent veins over the surface. The final form has the appearance of a man wearing animal skins.

History

The UNIT archives record one occurrence in at a barracks in Ealing west London in 1940. The same talisman appears to have been lost due to bombing.
