"Food" or "foodstuff" was the name given to edible objects. It was consumed around the entire universe, by many species and different races. This was to complete the process of respiration.[source needed]
On planet Earth, a vast variety of foods were available, such as chips, steak, fruit, turkey and many others. (TV: School Reunion, Sky An Unearthly Child, The Time of the Doctor)
The Doctor was rather fond of Earth food, most likely because he liked Earth so much in general. In particular, he had a sweet spot for jelly babies, celery and fish fingers and custard over the course his many incarnations. (TV: Robot, Doctor Who, Castrovalva, The Eleventh Hour)
