A Brief History of Time was the working title of Bernice Summerfield's encyclopedia of archaeology.
The manuscript was mostly destroyed in a fire. All that survived was a list of things an archaeologist should pack in their bag. Some of the items included in Benny's list were tools, toothbrush, alcohol, a good book, and a frock.
It included a (now-missing) chapter on the histories, societies, and cultures of major spacefaring races.
The surviving material was included in Benny's autobiography, The Dead Men Diaries. (PROSE: The Dead Men Diaries)
