The Doctor's rules were a series of guidelines created by the Doctor for his companions. As Jackson Lake, when he believed himself the Doctor, told his companion, Rosita:
The Doctor's companion does what the Doctor says.
The Fourth Doctor's rules
- 001: Do exactly what I say. (TV: The Ribos Operation)

The Tenth Doctor's rules

- 010: Don't eat anything until you're sure it's totally safe. Unless it's a badly cooked kronkburger - in which case don't eat at all. (PROSE: The Price of Paradise)
