Videos

I don't know how you missed all the warnings, but please be aware that only admin may upload videos to this site. This is one of our most strictly-enforced rules, which we implement and uniformly enforce to prevent people from uploading videos that are not properly licensed.

Thank you for your enthusiasm about the upcoming series, but do please know that you will be blocked if you upload any more videos to this site. Please read T:VID and T:RVID.

You did a great job of obeying the spirit of T:VID by pulling from the BBC's official account. That's why you're not blocked right now. But as a matter of administration it's simply easier to say "videos are odmin only". (There's also another technical reason. The "add a video" feature you'll find in the right column of pages is actually in beta and doesn't work as expected. So every time a video is uploaded there, it necessitates additional work that only admin can undertake. Therefore, we might as well be the only ones to upload videos, since we're — of necessity — going to be involved, anyway. Again, thanks very much for pulling from the right place and doing so much good work on the article about the latest prequel!

License

Thanks for being conscientious about adding licenses per local policies. However, when requesting help, please provide a link to the photo in question, which you can do by adding a colon in front of the word file, viz:

Yes, I could dig around your contribution history and figure it out, but it's better to give a link anytime you're requesting help over a specific issue.

Starman

Well, that's quite a messy one. Give me some time to look around and I'll see what I can come up with. I will also do a speedy rename of the song page some time soon when I get a chance to change the links to the page. Shambala108 18:43, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

Ok I did a bit of looking around, and I have a suggestion that will work at least long enough for you to create the page. Then we can maybe bring this issue to the forums to see if anyone has any suggestions. Keep in mind that I haven't read the story, so my suggestion is based solely on your description.
Create the page for the main guy, and include a section explaining the 26th dimension guy. Keep them both on the same page for now, and if it becomes necessary to split them, it can be done pretty easily. Shambala108 01:19, November 10, 2013 (UTC)

Christmas cheer

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!

Aliases

You haven't, unfortunately, asked a "quick question". You've asked a question that has been the subject of much debate. Complaints started in at least 2010, with this August 2010 discussion, but that conversation died without clear resolution. A new discussion rolled around in September 2011, which had the effect of agreeing to "significant" names. The consensus reached there was:

The names listed are notable or used more than once to identify the individual. In keeping with the idea of an infobox it's a summary of the article, so any one-time mentions can go within the body of the articleTangerineduel

The {{Infobox Individual}} has changed its label for the field again since then to its present main aliases to sorta stress the point made by TD in 2011.

The key point — or "baseline" as you put it — is the notion of multiple stories. Now, obviously, there are some people who appear in only one story, so if they have a significant nickname in that story, then you could include it in the infobox. I'm writing an article right now about the lead character from Wonderland. She writes as a middle-aged woman about her time as a young woman in San Francisco. Her real name is Jessica Willamy, but the name she adopted for the 1967 events was "Summer". That's the name the Doctor, Ben and Polly know her by, and it's the name that dominates most passages in the book. So the PAGENAME on this not-yet-written article is Jessica Willamy, and the main alias field is gonna be "Summer".

But I don't think that a name given in one story for a recurring character is valid for this field. That is to me the very clear sense of our previous community discussions. So it's right to strike down Ginger Rogers from Amy Pond. You shouldn't in any way assume that because a rule-breaking thing exists on the wiki that the established conventions have been thrown out the window. It just means no one has gotten around to cleaning that up. (I've cleaned out at particular alias field before, but the weeds have come back.)

As for Melody Malone, I would agree that that name should come back to the infobox. She's not only Melody throughout Magic, but she's known as Melody in Angels. And, maybe more to the point, it's a significant name because it's a name under which the character has published.

Tales of Trenzalore

Hi! I don't know much about Tales of Trenzalore, bit I just wanted to thank you for the huge amount of work you've done on its article and other related pages today. Thanks! Shambala108 03:47, February 28, 2014 (UTC)

Eleven template

I can't find a reason for locking it, so I've unlocked it until/unless another admin thinks it needs to be locked again. Shambala108 19:04, April 27, 2014 (UTC)

Re:Quick question

Hi! I've added a response to your and User:Bold Clone's discussion at my talk page. Thanks! Shambala108 14:22, July 12, 2014 (UTC)
