  • The Doctor admonishes Izzy for reading Agrotron! instead of broadening her mind with the large selection of literature in the TARDIS library. However, from at least her second trip in the TARDIS, Fire and Brimstone, she had been reading such novels as Terry Pratchet's Discworld and is familiar with the works of Ian M. Banks and H.P. Lovecraft.
And? Many people who read "high" literature also read comics. The point is that by their reading comics at all, others may condemn that as a waste. The Doctor wishes her to only read "proper" books, rather than a combination of books and comics.
Well that rather makes the Doctor a hypocrite, seeing as Eight was a fan of X-Men comics and Transformers in the novels(though depending on one's view of continuity that may be irrelevant.
But being a hypocrite isn't a Discontinuity. In fact, there are lots of hypocrites in Doctor Who.
I didn't mean to imply that. In truth, your explanation had not occurred to me as a solution and so my surprise at such a relatively simple fix was expressed in the pointing out of hypocrisy.
