Inspector Gregson was a Victorian officer from Scotland Yard.

In 1892, he congratulated Madame Vastra on cracking a case. (TV: Vastra Investigates)

When a dinosaur suddenly appeared in the Thames one day, Vastra and the Paternoster Gang handed him a device to help contain it.

Not much longer after, Vastra sent Gregson and other officers to take care of the Half-Face Man. However, they were too afraid to do anything. (TV: Deep Breath)

Behind the scenes

Madame Vastra and Jenny Flint's adventures share a lot of parallels with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories. One of these is the name of Inspector Gregson, whose name comes from the credits of Deep Breath. He shares his surname with Tobias Gregson, who was an inspector from the original Sherlock Holmes novels.
