Mother Bloodtide was the oldest of the three Carrionites who escaped the Deep Darkness after her race was banished there by the Eternals. She, Lilith and Mother Doomfinger were all imprisoned in a crystal ball and kept there by the Tenth Doctor. (TV: The Shakespeare Code)
