The Himalayas, also known as the roof of the World, was a mountain range on Earth, in the middle of the continent of Asia. The range contained most of the highest mountains on Earth,[1] including Mt Everest.

Susan believed that she, Ian, Barbara and her grandfather had landed in the Himalayas when the TARDIS once abruptly malfunctioned. Exploring, the party encountered Marco Polo, who informed them that the year was 1289. The TARDIS crew was invited to join him on his trek to Shang-Tu, the summer palace of Kublai Khan. Given the relative distance from Shang-Tu to the Himalayas — and the fact that they ultimately reached not just Shang-Tu but Peking as well — Susan's initial assessment was almost certainly incorrect. It's unlikely that a 13th-century caravan could travel such a distance in a matter of days. (DW: Marco Polo)

The Second Doctor, Jamie and Victoria once went to the Himalayas for a vacation at a Tibetan monastery, only to discover that the area had become overrun with both real, living Yeti and robotic copies crafted by the Great Intelligence. (DW: The Abominable Snowmen)

Early in Erimem's time aboard the TARDIS, the Fifth Doctor took her to Tibet in 1917 for a legendary cricket match, only to unwittingly plunge her and Peri into a confrontation with the Old Ones. (BFA: The Roof of the World)

The Master, under the guise of Mr. Saxon sent the Torchwood 3 team on a "wild goose-chase" to the Himalayas to prevent Jack Harkness contacting his team for help resisting the Master. (DW: The Sound of Drums)
