The Sesterce was a currency used in the Roman Empire.

In 64, in Rome, Barbara Wright was auctioned as a slave. After a few negligible offers, the highest reaching 2500 sesterces, Tavius bid 10,000 sesterces, successfully buying her. (TV: The Romans)
