Ray is a female mechanic and motorcycle enthusiast. She is in love with Billy, a professional mechanic and part-time singer at a Welsh holiday camp in the Fifties - Shangri-La. However, her love for him turns out to be unrequited, as he falls head over heels in love with the Chimeron Queen, Delta.
