De Tranveldt was an archaeologist whom Bernice Summerfield disliked. When she was leading an expedition to discover information about the long-extinct Avanonions, he approached their dig, claiming to have the rights to the site and offering to share credit with them in exchange for the information they had found to date. He and Benny's group were attacked by the chicken-like natives of the planet. Benny and her group escaped, and she later learned that De Tranveldt had survived. (PROSE: Cuckoo)
