Talk:Carrionite
Do you think the real Carrionites were they ghost things? Three carrionites (Lilith, Doomfinger and Bloodtide) were near-human, but their true forms could have been the ghost things flying around the globe. The evil dudeArnie 10:55, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well, seeming as hey had the ability to turn into the appearance of young women also, I see no reason why they would bother with an ugly intermediate stage between ghost-like and human-like. ~ Ghelæ -talk-contribs 07:10, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
The whole point was those ghost things were the Carrionite's true form and the witches were them casting spells to appear more Human-like. Lilith also had the power to appear entirely human. I've swapped the pictures around so that the true forms are in the InfoBox. I'm A Hydroponic Tomato! Bigredrabbit 00:30, December 23, 2009 (UTC)
Did the Carrionites use magic or not?[[edit source]]
I have watched this episode several times and I never understand if the Carrionites are supposed to be actual magic users or not. The Doctor first calls what they do witchcraft and the Carrionites themselves refer to it as magic. Its form and function matches up with human ideas of witchcraft with no real difference that I can see. It isn't really "rational" at least from the point of view of Time Lords and humans. The "linguistic-science" explanation sounds like a handwave to keep the show somewhat away from magic and still science fiction or for people who would insist magic is not real and need something else to call it. What is the difference between the Carrionites linguistic-science and magic? If there is not wouldn't that make them a case of actual magic from the t.v. show and should the articles for both the Carrionites and magic be change to reflect that?
