novelisation[[edit source]]

Are we sure they are a species? From the novelisation article: The novelisation makes it clear the "Gaztak" is a broad term for mercenary bands, not referring only to Grugger's group. Americanwhofan 13:21, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

In the television story, are they definitively called a race or species? If so, then the TV story "overrules" the novelisation. It's not so much "apocrypha" as being inaccurate to the original text.
If not, then we can allow PROSE: Meglos description to go in the lead. -- Tybort (talk page) 18:05, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

race or group[[edit source]]

Meglos novelisation says mercenaries, and Warmonger says space pirates.

The Doctor nodded. ‘Predators, Peri. You’re describing

predators. That’s what these people are. Gaztaks.’

‘Gaztaks?’

‘Space pirates.'Chapter Eleven

So a Gaztak is a mercenary, killer, space pirate, but it's still possible for the Gaztaks to be a race of mercenaries, killers, and space pirates. The novelisation of Delta and the Bannermen refer to the Bannermen having their own planet, so it's another case of species or group. Maybe it should be mercenary until a story explicitly refers to "the Gaztak race" or a non-humanoid Gaztak. Steed 00:04, April 14, 2015 (UTC)
