  • The book states that WOTAN came online and put its plan into operation in the year 1968. However, all other sources indicate that "The War Machines" took place in 1966.
This book is obviously mistaken. Depending on the context, this could be an error on the part of a character/filer.
We used to think that Planet of Fire (TV story) flowed directly into The Caves of Androzani (TV story), yet Big Finish seems to have found a way around that. Anyway, the ending and beginning scenes in question are ambiguous enough (that ambiguity coming of course from a perspective that finds such an interpretation desirable for the placement of novels such as this one) that, so long as the TARDIS scanner remains on the blink, The Time Travellers (novel) could conceivably have happened in the interim between the two stories.
