Sydney Harbour Bridge
The bridge being destroyed by the Daleks in the 1970s. (COMIC: *Sub Zero)

The Sydney Harbour Bridge was an iconic part of the Sydney skyline. From many vantage points, it could be glimpsed alongside the Sydney Opera House.

In the 1970s, the bridge was destroyed by the Daleks, who had launched missiles from stolen nuclear submarines. The Daleks attacked Sydney with the hope of turning it into a base from which to take over the rest of the world. Since they carried out the attack by sub, they would have to sail into the Harbour to make their landing. This required that they sail their submarine underneath the remains of the bridge — where the Third Doctor and Lt Davis had a trap in store for them. As the submarine passed underneath, Davis sent down an electrically-charged cable to the deck, which killed all the Daleks. (COMIC: *Sub Zero)

By 2009, the bridge had apparently been rebuilt, as a news report showed fireworks being launched over Sydney Harbour Bridge in celebration of the Earth's return to its normal place in space. (TV: Journey's End)

The bridge was definitively identified in the text of *Sub Zero as being the "harbour bridge" in Sydney and by its distinctive visual style.

In 2010, a chronal wave brought a large number of dinosaurs into modern times on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, where they attacked fleeing humans and fought each other. Later, when another chronal wave froze Sydney in ice from the Ice Age, the Harbour Bridge was frozen and badly damaged, and the dinosaurs on it froze to death. (COMIC: The Age of Ice)

The Seventh Doctor wasn't sure if he preferred the bridge or the opera house. (AUDIO: Terror of the Sontarans)
