Our Lady of Kazan was a shrine to the Virgin Mary in Russia. It was put on the site where she was said to have appeared miraculously in the 16th century, and her statue in the shrine was supposed to have mystical powers which would save Russia from danger. (PROSE: The Wages of Sin)
