Talk:The Woman Who Lived (TV story)

Two-Parter Or Not?

I think that this story does count as a two-parter, it was listed as such by the BBC and just because each part has a different writer, setting and tone, that doesn't mean it's not a two-parter, that just means it's the FIRST two-parter to have that case.

It was not listed as such by the BBC. In fact, they went out of their way to distinguish it from the two-parters:

Press Release: Filming begins on Doctor Who Series 9

Steven Moffat, lead writer and executive producer, says: “An amazing guest cast for a brilliantly creepy two-parter by Toby Whithouse. Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman are back in Cardiff, back in the box, and back in action - for one of our scariest adventures yet!”

Press Release: Michelle Gomez returns to Doctor Who

The second two-part episode to be filmed, The Magician’s Apprentice and The Witch’s Familiar, is written by the show’s lead writer Steven Moffat, produced by Peter Bennett and directed by Hettie Macdonald (Blink, the Hugo Award-winning Doctor Who episode).

Press Release: Doctor Who reveals Maisie Williams as guest star

Bursting with drama, wit and heart, the show continues filming with two period adventures - The Girl Who Died written by Jamie Mathieson and Steven Moffat, and The Woman Who Lived by Catherine Tregenna.

The press releases specifically refer to TMA/TWF and UTL/BTF two-parters, but differentiate TGWD and TWWL as "two period adventures." This is reiterated on the official site which also positions the two-parters together but positions 9x05 and 9x06 as separate listings. Mewiet 01:17, October 26, 2015 (UTC)
