A rigging gaffer is a member of the lighting and electrical department who works under the gaffer and the director of photography. They supervise certain crew, including best boys, and are responsible for pre-lighting on set, and making sure everything is in order on arrival of the gaffer.

As of November 2016, only Tony Allen has been credited as a rigging gaffer, for the docudrama An Adventure in Space and Time.
