Ru Chan was a London-going Chinese lady who was married to Bau Chan and friends with Jackie Tyler. After the disappearance of Rose Tyler, Ru comforted Jackie. When Rose returned, Ru was angry at what she had done to her friend, but she soon forgave her. She also told Jackie to apologise to Mickey Smith for blaming him for Rose's murder. (TV: Aliens of London) In Pete's World, a "Mrs Chan" told Rita-Anne Smith that Ricky Smith was running with the Preachers. (TV: Rise of the Cybermen)
