The chief brewer on a Hazoodian ship was responsible for the Gathering Ale. He discovered that Earth turkeys added a bit of protein to the recipe. When he accidentally added a human to the mix, he was pleased with the result. The Fourth Doctor tampered with the controls of the vat, adding bacteria to the mix, so the Hazoodians couldn't drink it. He then sent them on their way. (PROSE: Autaia Pipipi Pia)
