Aubrey Fairchild (Beautiful Chaos)

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
For the 19th century reverend with the same name, see Aubrey Fairchild.

Aubrey Fairchild was British Prime Minister from 2008-2009, following the short tenure of "Harold Saxon".

Fairchild declared a state of emergency following the Mandragora Helix's attempt to take over the world. He was telephoned by Professor Brian "Ahab" Melville the night before on a secure line.

The Doctor, when asking about Fairchild, declared that this Prime Minister "clearly makes no impression on history". (NSA: Beautiful Chaos)

Fate during the Dalek invasion of Earth

When escaping to an unknown location during the Dalek invasion, his plane lost contact with Torchwood, implying that it was destroyed during the fighting with the Daleks. (DW: The Stolen Earth)

His final fate remains unknown', however he had been succeeded by Brian Green in 2009."

Behind the Scenes

Alternate draft

Originally Fairchild was to meet a Dalek saucer descending on Westminster, before being exterminated. Jack Harkness, at Torchwood 3 in Cardiff, urged the Prime Minister not to do it. The scene was dropped at an early draft, partly for time but partly because Russell T Davies thought the Daleks wouldn't be "so diplomatic".[1]
