The four major powers in Mutter's Spiral where the Federation of Worlds, refered to in slang as the Galactic Federation, which is run by a President; the Dalek Empire, ruled by Davros; the Cybermen, ruled by a Cyber-Emperor; and the Draconian Empire. Another major power was Josiah W. Dogbolter's Intra-Venus, Inc., a company rich enough to own Venus, Mars, and Jupiter.

Paper has become a highly rare and expensive commodity. The main currency is the mazuma.

Earth is said to be environmentally damaged and overrun with crime & chaos (see below).

Major events

  • The Skeletoids tear through the galaxy, decimating the Daleks and Cybermen and coming close to the Federation. They are stopped by a coalition of heroes including the Sixth Doctor and Kaon. (DWM: [[[Kane's Story]], [[[Abel's Story]], [[[The Warrior's Story]], [[[Frobisher's Story]])
  • A key planet of Dogbolter's is lost to him, ruining his delicate economic balance, when a minor joke causes the local workers to start thinking and being creative. (BF: The Maltese Penguin)
  • Josiah Dogbolter is killed in a nuclear explosion at Intra-Venus' headquarters in 8162. (Death's Head #8)

Minor events

  • Death's Head arrives in the year 8162. (DWM: The Crossroads of Time]])

Notable individuals

Marvel Comics

  • Marvel's Death's Head and Dragon's Claws take place in the same century, the year 8162; both comics present Earth as environmentally wrecked, overrun with crime, and generally a mess. While these titles have had several crossovers with Doctor Who Magazine, it's not stated in these crossovers that Earth is in this state.
