Boekind is a species probably from the Silver Destination in the Isop galaxy.

Biology

The only member of Boekind seen so far, the Face of Boe, had the form of a large, humanoid head with numerous tendrils which terminate in round pod-like structures in place of hair. It is so far unknown if other members of Boekind are just heads like this too, or whether there is more to the anatomy of Boekind. (DW: The End of the World, New Earth)

It is aso known that Boekind can only grunt vocally, yet they can communicate very well telepathically. (DW: New Earth)

Life Cycle

Little is known about Boekind reproduction, but it is known that they become pregnant and can give birth to at least 6 infants. The average life-span of a Boekind is 40 years, though Face of Boe had a greatly increased life-span. (DW: The Long Game)

Technology

The only technology known to be used by Boekind is a life support tank in which the Face of Boe lives in permanently, however even this may be not have been created by Boekind and may be a creation of another race. (DW: The End of the World, New Earth)

History

Boekind are an ancient species, having evolved many billions of years ago in the Isop Galaxy "when the stars of the Andromeda Galaxy were still dust". (DW: Bad Wolf)

By the year 200,000, Boekind had become nearly extinct except for the Face of Boe and his children, the Boemina, although in 40 years time even the Boemina would die. (DW: The Long Game) The Face of Boe, the last member of Boekind, lived until at least the year 5,000,000,043, although nearly died in the year 5,000,000,023. (DW: New Earth)
