Target Books/1991
Target Books' Doctor Who output in 1991 was the lowest in the range's history. With just the one new Seventh Doctor television novelisation, Battlefield, the series effectively ended, although in September they produced a new novelisation of a 1978 audio drama with the Fourth Doctor, The Pescatons. Though a few more novelisations would be forthcoming in the next couple of years, these novelisations did not follow the Target format in that they had a much higher word count and were intended for a higher reading level. Battlefield was also the last television novelisation to go out under the Target logo.
1991 was, however, a big year for reprints. Nineteen novelisations were reprinted, including some reprints of Fourth Doctor stories. The inclusion of the Fourth Doctor was significant, as he had been all but ignored by Target for a decade.

Publishing notes
- The publication of Battlefield marked the last release of a new television novelisation in the "standard" Target Books format. The remaining three books published in 1993 and 1994 would feature a much expanded word count and would not include the Target logo on their covers.
