Ricardo Mendoza was a New York City councillor from Brooklyn in the 21st century. He was the only Mexican councillor in the city.
Before becoming a councillor, he used to eat in "The Castillo Mexicano", Gonzalez' family restaurant.
One year, he arranged to have a Day of the Dead festival in Green-Wood Cemetery, next to Sunset Park. Promoting the event celebrating Mexican culture, on 30 October, he gave an interview to NY1 news and personally visited the Gonzalez family to ask them to come to the celebration.
