Welcome to the Tardis:About The-Macra

Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

The Doctor (When Times Change...)[[edit source]]

Just wondering, but would it be possible if you could post a quote or two from When Times Change which confirm that the woman that gives Conall the photo is the Doctor? We must be careful to only use evidence from within the story itself. CoT ? 21:26, July 18, 2017 (UTC)

Sure! Here's the whole story (it's very short):

When Times Change[[edit source]]

There's a difference between oblique, winking references and an outright named use of the character. In fact, the illustration accompanying the story uses edited promotional photos of the Doctor, despite no legal rights to do so. There's a word for stories that disregard copyright like this: fan fiction. (Well, two words.) We have four rules to determine whether or not a story gets included on the wiki, and this falls afoul of rule two:

A story that isn't commercially licensed by all of the relevant copyright holders doesn't count.Tardis:Valid sources

This is pretty non-subjective, as you suggest. I can't speak to the stories you mentioned, as I haven't read them, but I would say mentioning the Doctor as part of the character's backstory is fine. In When Times Change, the Doctor meets one character "off-screen", has their appearance described, and has their photographic image used in the accompanying illustration. I'm no copyright lawyer, but I think it's well within the BBC's rights to issue a takedown notice, especially given that Candy Jar is charging for it.

One last thing: given the spoiler-y nature of the contents, I'm going to have to remove the story from your talk page, per Tardis:Spoiler policy. It will still be accessible in the page history. Thanks for your understanding in this matter. P&P talk contribs 01:38, July 19, 2017 (UTC)
