Rename

Does anyone have anything to add regarding the proposed name change? For reference, "third planet" appears five times and "planet of evil" twice. Romana and the Doctor refer to it using both names. Merak uses third planet. The novelisation might help if anyone has it to hand.--Skittles the hog - talk 16:38, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

Good suggestion! In the novelisation they talk twice about "the third planet", before starting naming it "Planet of Evil" four times, capital letters included. --HarveyWallbanger 17:30, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

If they're using Planet of Evil as a proper noun then I think we've found our title.--Skittles the hog - talk 17:47, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

But what is it called by the natives or the people from the system? Four and Romana are just visitors; if they're the only ones calling it "Planet of Evil", it sounds more like a nickname. Shambala108 17:49, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

There are no natives. The Shadow offers nothing in the way of a name. As stated above, Merak uses third planet. The quotations from Armageddon for third planet are:

"He's got a third planet all to himself." - Romana
"I think we should concentrate on the Shadow and the third planet." - The Doctor
"Listen, I'll get a fix on the third planet." - Romana
"No, no, Astra, no. You're the only one who's ever been to the third planet before." - The Doctor
"The third planet. Show me." - Merak

For Planet of Evil, you have:

"Doctor, he hit the Planet of Evil and he was aiming at Zeos" - Romana
"A mere deflective forcefield set up for a millisecond set up between the Marshal and Zeos, bounced the missiles smack onto the Planet of Evil." - The Doctor

I've used the capitalisation that, from Harvey's post, I gather is used in the novelisation. Both uses of Planet of Evil are in one scene whereas third planet is used in three episodes.--Skittles the hog - talk 18:28, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

It is indeed used by "foreigners" but there's no civilisation to refer to, and it's the most characterizing definition we have. --HarveyWallbanger 21:55, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

Any last arguments in either direction?

Yes, the page should be renamed "Planet of Evil", given that "third planet" could easily refer to any planet that is the third planet of its system. 24.205.83.199talk to me 04:45, February 21, 2018 (UTC)
