Talk:Amy Pond (The Girl Who Waited)

Page Creation

She is a separate individual from an alternate timeline that deserves her own page as she played such a major role in that episode. Like the Shadow World Twelfth Doctor got his own page.--WarGrowlmon18 00:13, March 11, 2018 (UTC)

Also, am currently writing the page. Please leave it alone for now.--WarGrowlmon18 00:13, March 11, 2018 (UTC)

Please note that the Shadow World isn't technically an alternate timeline, so Twelfth Doctor (Shadow World) isn't the precedent you're looking for here. – N8 00:47, March 11, 2018 (UTC)
Twelfth Doctor (Four Doctors) then. He's the alternate timeline Twelfth Doctor from the comic by the same name. There's also a bunch of pages for alternate timeline individuals and this Amy is enough of her own person to warrant her own page. She's not like some minor alternate version that briefly appears such as say Old Rory from The Angels Take Manhattan who died like two seconds after we met him. (I do plan to eventually do a page for that alternate timeline btw. The way it got negated was just too awesome not to!!!) This Amy is her own established character to the point that she deserves her own page rather than just a small blurb about her on the regular Amy Pond page.--WarGrowlmon18 01:28, March 11, 2018 (UTC)
Very smart reply. Sorry if I came across as confrontational! – N8 02:48, March 11, 2018 (UTC)
You didn't. Don't worry about it.--WarGrowlmon18 03:41, March 11, 2018 (UTC)

Okay, now I'm done!!!--WarGrowlmon18 01:50, March 11, 2018 (UTC)

A philosophical question for you -- would you support the idea of the wiki differentiating between "negatated" or "aborted timelines" and "alternate timelines"? I personally feel like there's just a distinct difference between a timeline that was the way the universe was, before time was changed, versus a properly alternate timeline like we see in (eg) Inferno or Warlords of Utopia, and I'd be curious to see if you agree, since you've quite obviously spent a lot more time than me thinking about the Whoniverse's various timeline setups! – N8 02:48, March 11, 2018 (UTC)
We'd need more consensus to do anything with that and frankly I've never seen that episode or read that book so I don't really know what you're talking about there. I've just always loved time travel and time travel shows and shows with alternate futures or where the main character has to change the past/future to save the world. Part of the reason I loved Heroes and Back to the Future so much!!!--WarGrowlmon18 03:41, March 11, 2018 (UTC)
I think we might need a forum thread to determine when an alternate character gets his/her own page and when an alternate character merely gets a section of the existing character's page. There should probably be some kind of standard guidelines we can use instead of the current inconsistencies. Shambala108 03:54, March 11, 2018 (UTC)
At the moment it just seems best to go with characters whose alternate selves have an important enough role to warrant their own pages to give them one. Minor alternate counterparts who get minimal airtime aren't worth it but this one??? Definitely. And probably the River Song's World versions of Amy and Rory too since they were completely separate versions of the character. That world's River really wasn't so she wouldn't get her own page.--WarGrowlmon18 05:56, March 11, 2018 (UTC)
