In 1761, two earthquakes struck London: one on 8 January, the other on 8 March. William Bell, in his codex, predicted that a third earthquake would hit, destroying London and beginning the apocalypse, on 5 April. He was imprisoned in Bedlam asylum, and his predictions proved inaccurate. (PROSE: Bêtes Noires & Dark Horses)

In May, the HMS Century sailed across the Atlantic Ocean. (PROSE: Tick-Tock)
