Type 54 was a type of TARDIS used by the Time Lords, and more advanced than the Type 40. Quadrigger Stoyn was furious when he learnt his job as an engineer was rendered obsolete by a button featured on the Type 54 and later TARDISes, and there were just a few time engineers left.
