Rosa Parks had a mother. The ill health of Parks' grandmother, and the subsequent sickness of her mother, meant that Parks had to leave school and was not able to become a teacher as she desired. (TV: Rosa)
Behind the scenes
Though not mentioned on-screen, Rosa Parks' mother was named Leona McCauley (née Edwards). Parks did in fact leave school to care for her grandmother, and later her mother, when they got sick.
