Joan of Arc, also known as Saint Joan, was a French military leader.

Upon visiting Venus in the far future, Henry Gordon Jago was ordered to entertain the Grand Empress Vulpina. To that end, he told her the following joke: "What's the difference between Joan of Arc and an old, oak table?" The punchline was "One's Maid of Orleans, the other's made of wood."
