Omar Khayyám

Omar Khayyám was the poet who wrote,

Awake for morning in the bowl of night,
Has flung the stone that puts the stars to flight.

In June 1462, the Fifth Doctor quoted this poem after recovering from a knife wound between his hearts. (AUDIO: Son of the Dragon)
