A sadhu was a wandering Hindu holy man.

In 1947 Punjab, a sadhu known as Bhakti was to officiate the marriage of Umbreen and Prem, but was murdered by Prem's brother Manish who did not approve of his Hindu brother marrying a Muslim woman. (TV: Demons of the Punjab)
