Tanyel was a teacher at the seminary on Kirith. She had been Kraz's lover until he was taken away and the zavát made her forget all about him.
When Ace and Raphael told her about the Panjistri's experiments on the Kirithons, she refused to believe them until she saw Kraz and her memories of him returned. She and other Kirithons then stirred up unrest by cutting off the zavát and power supplies and spreading the truth to others, but was forced to flee to the Darkfell when the Panjistri put down the uprising.
