According the information in the non-narrative source DWBIT 37, a gigantic blood-thirsty bat-like species was named Chiroptera. Their eyes were capable of emitting devastating psionic energy beams. They fought the Daleks to protect the Hellmouth to the home of the ancient Vampire Gods.
