User talk:Chakoteya
Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!
We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:
- the listing of all our help, policy and guideline pages
- our Manual of Style
- our image use policy
- our user page policy
If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! — you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:
Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask an admin.

Christmas cheer
As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.
This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!
We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.
2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
Hey
Hey, welcome (back, technically) to the Tardis. Great contributions so far. :)
Just a few things I thought I'd point out, though.
- File:Bisme.jpg unfortunately had to be deleted because it was under 250px in width, but more actually because it was unsourced. You put the right licensing template, which is certainly a great step, but if it's a copyright image as the template says, you should at the very least link to the source of the image (as the template also says, as it happens).
- Actors are not the characters they play. Your addition to Daryl Crittenden would be better suited on the page for the young man, which you could easily create using the character preload. You can take a peak at T:IU and other pages within the manual of style if you're unsure of yourself.
- Sources are meant to be formatted like: TV: Rendition. So a link to TV, colon, and then a italicised link to Rendition. In wikitext — which you can edit in by clicking on "classic editor" in the edit dropdown, or by clicking "source editor" under "more" while editing with VisualEditor — this is:
TV: Rendition (TV story)
.
On another topic, any idea what happened what made Bisme Katusi start off with the main page under it? I'd love to have that weird bug squashed.

- Also, do your Miracle Day edits mean you're working on finally adding TW series 4 to your site? I'd love that. I find your work very helpful. :)

Page creation
Hi! A few things about your page creation of Excited teenager:
- I changed the name from Excited Teenager to Excited teenager for grammar reasons. Even though the cast list capitalizes Teenager, on this wiki we don't capitalize common nouns. So when you create a page like this, you would have to pipe switch the cast listing on the story page, like this: Excited Teenager. Please keep this in mind if you plan on doing more of these, such as Pale Woman, Pushy Woman, etc.
- The "alias" field of the infobox should be used only sparingly. It's for often-used aliases or main aliases of one-time characters. An alias is never the restating of the article name or any variation of it.
- All in-universe articles are written as though they were an encyclopedia entry of the person/event. So we don't say things like, "blank was the cast list name for...". Please see my change to the page to see how we would write the intro.
- All pages must have at least one category. You can find the list of categories at Special:Categories. If you're working on series 4 of Torchwood, there's an easy category for each category, which is "21st century individuals".
- Please keep in mind that we have a page for the fictional Categories of Life as well as the story name The Categories of Life. This does happen with a few stories in the DWU.
- You should always source the material you put in an article, even if you've already put the story name in the infobox. Yes, this character appears in only one story, which you listed in the infobox, but we always want to cite information in the body of the article as well, whether the character/object appears in one story or one hundred.
I think that covers everything. Basically, if you are planning on creating more pages for these minor Torchwood characters (and I see that there are a lot of them), then I suggest you take a look at the changes I made to your article and go on from there. Thanks, and I hope this helps! Shambala108 ☎ 15:40, March 4, 2014 (UTC)
Just saying hi
Just wanted to stop by and say hello, I'm a huge fan of your website, and it's been a phenomenal resource while working on this wiki. I'm involved in a dozen-or-so different Doctor Who fan communities across the internet and everyone knows, uses, and loves your website. I hope you know how big a fanbase you have across the whole Who fandom :) – N8 ☎ 17:27, June 20, 2019 (UTC)
