Dean was the personal assistant and partner of Kieran Frost. He was an only child. (AUDIO: Through the Ruins)
By early 2005, Dean was the personal assistant to the Head of Security at Torchwood One, Kieran Frost. Later that year, fellow work colleague Rachel Allan, set him up with Kieran. During the sabotaged experiment of a transmat machine, Dean was killed. (AUDIO: New Girl)
Kieran found it extremely difficult to recover from Dean's death and recalled to Yvonne Hartman how he hadn't even changed his bed sheets because he didn't want the crease in the bed linen left by Dean to disappear.
