Mrs Pierce was the wife of Tommy Pierce, who had to keep his career at Torchwood One a secret from her and led her to believe that he was merely a bus mechanic. She enjoyed reading.
Eventually, Tommy brought home a device that allowed the user to absorb the contents of a book instantly. Mrs Pierce enjoyed it and accepted his life at Torchwood.
