Engagement ring

An engagement ring was a ring which indicated that the person wearing it was engaged to be married.

Gwen Cooper wore an engagement ring as she was engaged to Rhys Williams. (TV: Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang)

Amy Pond wore an engagement ring as she was engaged to Rory Williams. She left it behind when she joined the Eleventh Doctor on 25 June, the night before her wedding. (TV: Flesh and Stone) When Rory Williams joined her on her travels, he asked that she not wear the ring in case she lost it. (TV: The Hungry Earth) After Rory was killed and erased from time, resulting in Amy losing her memory of him, the Doctor kept the ring in his jacket pocket, (TV: Cold Blood) where it was eventually found by Amy. (TV: The Lodger) Assuming that it belonged to the Doctor, she questioned him about it, to which he claimed that it belonged to a friend. When he found that Rory was alive, with Amy remaining oblivious to his identity, the Doctor gave Rory the ring for Amy, whose memory was soon restored. (TV: The Pandorica Opens)
