what the editing space needs
the editing space needs a button where, if you press it, a handy template appears for astronomical object, person or species. I know that new entries have pre-loadable episode, race/species and character templates but this would help lots. because otherwise I don't know what to do other than to hunt up the relevant template and cut and paste it. can anyone help? --***Stardizzy*** 22:29, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- The idea is you just type in the wikicode like so:
{{Infobox Object |Object name = Blah |type = Blaher |origin = Blahing race of Blahblah }}
- Instead of copying out the long wikicode with divs and spans and fonts and brs, or even subst:ing the template. If you wanted to do that, you may as well teach yourself every little detail about wikicode and write it out yourself. And I find that little stretch of template code easy enough to remember myself... ~ Ghelæ -talk-contribs 15:57, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- thank you. now, one lacking template button: tables. Wikipedia's editing space has tables and our doesn't. when I import the Telos Doctor Who Novellas entry (by hand) from Wikipedia, you'll notice that the tables didn't transfer. how would you go about editing the edit space itself, to put in extra categories (and also remove one, since the Companions hasn't proved useful). assuming only Admins/sysops could do this? --***Stardizzy*** 16:03, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- Not sure what you mean by that last bit about editing the edit space...
- About the tables not transfering - that'll probably be to do with the css of this wiki (MediaWiki:Monobook.css) or the javascript (MediaWiki:Monobook.js), I'm not sure which, neither of which have the same code for class="wikitable" as Wikipedia (I think). And only admins can edit the MediaWiki namespace. ~ Ghelæ -talk-contribs 16:14, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
