The Time War was the catastrophic battle between the Time Lords and the Daleks. In the final onslaught of the war, the Dalek fleet was grouped in closly together, so the Doctor destroyed a single ship and the rest went with it, along with the Time Lords. It was beleived that not a single Time Lord, other than the Doctor, or Dalek survived. But as the years progressed, a single Dalek managed to escape through a void-hole in space, landing on Earth and falling into the control of a greedy underground collecter named Henry Van Statten.

When the TARDIS picked up the signal the Doctor found the Dalek and it was destroyed. Rose said to him 'Is that the end of it then, the Time War? and the Doctor replies 'I'm the only one left, I win' Rose hints that more of his people may have survived but the Doctor seems to hope that there are no more Time Lords or Daleks.

The Time War itself lasted for an unknown amount of Real Time, as it consisted of many back-tracks through time, with the Daleks developing a Time Corridor (seen in the episode 'Ressurection of the Daleks' starring Peter Davidson) in order to combat the Time Lord's own time travel devices and the Doctor's TARDIS. This gave the Daleks what was soon to become known as the Emergency Temporal Shift, an escape mechanism that allowed the most important of Daleks, the Dalek Supreme, the Dalek Emperor or the Cult of Skaro, to escape battle unharmed and return in full force next time.

The final battle of the Time War, to date, is the Battle of Canary Wharf, where a thrid faction, the Cybermenm, entered the war and the results were catastrophic. The Daleks used the Genesis Ark, a Time Lord Prison ship, to transport a final army of Daleks in their millions to overrun Earth. When the void was opened however, this mighty army was lost, leaving the Dalek Supreme of the Cult of Skaro, SEK, to utilize the Temporal Shift and retreat.

The Time War is still open ended, for both the Doctor and at least one Dalek are both still in existence, so in truth the war is not yet over. There will be a new installment in the battle report next season when Dalek SEK returns and the Time War will continue
