The following people composed the incidental music for Doctor Who from An Unearthly Child to the 1996 telemovie. From Series 1 (2005) to Series 10 (2017), incidental music was composed by Murray Gold. From Series 11 (2018) onwards, the incidental music has been composed by Segun Akinola.

Incidental Music Composers for Doctor Who

Season 1

  • An Unearthly Child - Norman Kay / Three Guitars Mood 2 - Derek Nelson & Arthur Raymond
  • The Daleks - Tristram Cary
  • The Edge of Destruction - Stock music:
    • Musique Electronique: Mood Three - Eric Siday
    • Musique Electronique: Space Agitato [Looped] - Eric Siday

    • Gong (Apparently from Tristram Cary's Marco Polo score - Unconfirmed)
    • NOTE: This story features two cues by Desmond Leslie - Both come from "The Day the Sky Fell In" and this track is correctly listed on the PasB. Panini's 'Doctor Who - The Complete History' oddly claims these two cues are from separate sources - "The Stranger" and "The Stranger's Gift." This is incorrect - While those tracks both contain sections that were reused for "The Day the Sky Fell In," neither of those tracks actually appear themselves.
  • Marco Polo - Tristram Cary; Also 2 tracks from the BBC Sound Library:
    • At the Palace Gates - Louis P. T. Chen
    • A Merry Old Gentleman's Song - Louis P. T. Chen
  • The Keys of Marinus - Norman Kay
  • The Aztecs - Richard Rodney Bennett
  • The Sensorites - Norman Kay
  • The Reign of Terror - Stanley Myers
